The 2020 Loureiro Casa da Bouça is Fojo's venture into Loureiro in Vinho Verde, with vines planted in 2008 in the subregion of Sousa. It is very dry (less than half a gram of residual sugar and 7.5 of total acidity) and comes in at 10.7% alcohol. Bright and lively, this is another of the producer's Vinhos Verdes that provides that bracing acidity many love about the region. It has power but not as much concentration as its sibling, the blend. It's not unusual for Loureiro to be on the lighter side, of course, but this could've used a little more in the mid-palate. That means that, today, this doesn't express the grape so well. It's not classically aromatic or flavorful because the power subsumes the character of the grape. That can and probably will change to some extent if this has a bit more time to settle down, but let's be conservative just now. There were 10,200 bottles produced by winemaker-owner Margarida Serôdio Borges (of Fojo fame). Not yet imported, this runs around 11 euros in Portugal. There were 10,200 bottles produced.
