Gran Moraine Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

A gorgeous Pinot Noir from the Gran Moraine site shows crushed raspberries on hot stone, cassia bark and dusty gravel. The palate is elegant and refined; delicate red and purple fruits are framed by blue florals; there is a depth of umami character marked by soy, balsamic and wet moss. Wonderful.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Upland is dark-fruited and wild on the nose: wild raspberry and blackberry are accented by touches of mossy bark, dried herbs and Angostura bitters. The medium-bodied palate is structured by luxuriously silky tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity that brighten its slowly unfurling flavors. It has a long finish that segues from red fruit to spice and floral perfume, and its seamlessness and complexity point to a long life in the cellar. 214 cases were made.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton is savory and sweet, with a blend of grilled herbs and flowery underbrush giving way to plum sauce and dark chocolate. It’s soft-textured and round, with lifting acidity and ripe wild berry fruits contrasted by hints of inner sage. The 2021 finishes with medium length and a subtle tinge of spice, ending with a trace of black currant.
