A blend of 39% Pinotage, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Kadette Cape Blend begins with a red-fruited, dusty element and an open-knit, uncomplicated expression. Medium to full-bodied, it's a straightforward red blend that delivers nicely for the price. A million bottles were produced after the wine rested in used French oak.
The 2021 Cape Blend Kadette, which sees 12 months in used oak, has just a slight reduction on the nose, underneath which one finds brambly black fruit, a little iodine and pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture, a touch of sour cherry and blueberry leading to a tangy finish. A decent Cape Blend to drink over the next 3-5 years.
