The approachable and open-knit 2022 Grenache Shiraz Mataro Three Gardens delivers a plump core of reserved cherry and dark earthy tones. Dry and mid-weight, the palate is more earth and spice, with chunky tannins. The 2022 is best enjoyed young.
The 2022 Three Gardens Grenache Shiraz Mataro is aromatically reticent and leads into a palate of humbug, kirsch and muted forest berries. I find the lack of flavor here quite disturbing and can only surmise that there is something amiss with this particular bottle, although I note similar perplexity in the prior vintage note. There is a burst of flavor on the middle palate, and it is this that I am focused on for the note. There are tones of blood plum, raspberry and licorice. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
