Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc

Expressive nose of dill, citrus and gooseberry. Lovely intensity with a rounded palate, passionfruit and lychee notes.

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is so pungent with thiols that I can't get past it. The fruit is obscured; the only evident characters are asparagus, broom, gooseberry and mushroom. I am deliberately avoiding using a particular feline descriptor, but it is here in spades. While there are many people who love this thiol character, it is far too overt, permeating the palate and the finish as well. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
