Grenache has always been the focal point of the wines from Grateful Palate because it encapsulates their philosophy of wine so well: a poorly recognized grape variety, which delivers everything that we love about red wine; varietal and regional expression; aromas and flavors of red berries and black cherries, pepper; and, always, a hint of Asian spice and anise complexity. On the palate it has flavors that remind me of milk chocolate. However, most importantly, it is the flavor structure that wins out.
