Isaac Fernández Selección is a unique collaborative venture between two individuals – Isaac Fernández, one of Spain’s most acclaimed winemakers and Aurelio Cabestrero whose vision and commitment to Spanish wines has helped bring them forefront in the United States. Both partners have along history in Ribera del Duero; Isaac has made wines from Ribera fruit for over 20 years and Aurelio has relatives with a winery within the DO. They started their project in Ribera del Duero in 2010 producing two wines. Finca la Mata, named for the single old vine vineyard where the fruit is grown, offers more richness depth and complexity.
A really cool wine, the 2022 Finca La Mata is sourced from old vine Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo). This is generous and round on the mouth with a vibrant acidity and dense sense of weight. Black currants and milk chocolate flavors parade with dusty minerals and damp earth on the palate. Thisis delicious, beautifully evolved stuff that should be consumed over the next few years

Generous and flavorful, this showcases a combination of dark fruits covered in sweet chocolate, while earthy and mineral notes emerge through the finish. Plush, attractive and a pleasure.

Fresh and balanced, with dark and focused blackberry paste and crème de cassis flavors accented by fragrant notes of melted licorice, chopped marjoram, graphite and loamy earth. Fine, chalky tannins define the finish. Drink now through 2029. 1,800 cases made, 1,300 cases imported.
