A blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, with a high volume of Grand Cru fruit included, this is an absurd value in high-quality Grower Champagne.
This exceptional champagne undergoes maturation in steel tanks, followed by at least 24 months on the lees—often longer—with a dosage of around 5g. This slightly sweeter profile distinguishes it from the usual Gimonnet-Gonet champagnes, which typically feature a dosage of only 1-2g or even none at all.
On the nose, this Blanc de Noirs reveals vibrant notes of red berries, orange zest, floral hints, and a touch of brioche. Its breadth unmistakably indicates its varietal origins. On the palate, it’s juicy and fresh, boasting good pressure and a robust structure. The acidity is subtle, while the dosage enhances the wine's richness, resulting in a velvety mouthfeel. Expect a plethora of fine, aromatic red berry flavors, complemented by a nutty finish.
While all of Gimonnet-Gonet's champagnes are remarkable, this particular release adds a new dimension to their lineup. It pairs beautifully with red meat or hearty stews, making it a worthy choice for any meal.
