Mendo Pinot prices have lately had us thinking that some of our old faves may be sampling too much of Mendocino’s *other* main cash crop... or that Mendocino’s famous “Deep End” is realer than we thought, and they’ve gone off it! But Lioco winemaker Drew Huffine has harnessed the unicorn of a Mendo Pinot that’s as properly delicious as it is affordable. (His first vintage he only made 1000 cases... and watched as it got snapped up by Michelin-starred restaurants all over the place!) Nervy like a good Burg, red-fruited, and bright -- but with depth from whole-cluster use as well as unmistakable Cali sunshine.

This fresh and medium-bodied wine is complex and intriguing, with appealing aromas of redwood forest, rose petals and grilled herbs. Wild berry flavors integrate with juicy tannins and mouthwatering acidity. Notes of bergamot and herb tea linger in the long finish. Good value.
