The sweetly scented and perfumed 2020 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Millette 50 wafts up with pretty yellow flowers, sugar-dusted apricots and nuances of ground ginger. This is a purely elegant expression with a pleasant inner sweetness and silky textures that find wonderful contrasts through a twang of candied lime. A burst of salty minerals emerges through the finale, leaving a saline crust upon the palate that seems to slowly crackle and then fade. The Millette is a new wine in the Satarelli portfolio from an east- to southeast-facing vineyard planted in 2004 at 210 meters maturing on the lees. This bottling celebrates the 50th anniversary of the winery.

In the bottle with the purple capsule, the 2020 Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva Classico 50 Milletta is named after the winery founder Ferruccio Sartarelli's wife, affectionately called Milletta. This wine offers evenly matched aromas of stone fruit, citrus, crushed stone and spicy ginger. This hot-vintage expression is thick on the mid-palate, but it also closes with balanced acidity. This is a 7,000-bottle release.
